# Ce este IMAP?

**IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)** este un protocol pentru **citirea emailului** care păstrează mesajele **pe server** și le sincronizează pe toate dispozitivele tale (telefon, laptop, webmail).

## Cum funcționează?

Cu IMAP, clientul de email „oglindește” ce este în contul de email de pe server. Dacă citești sau ștergi un mesaj pe telefon, schimbarea se vede și pe laptop, pentru că mesajele rămân stocate central.

## IMAP vs POP3

- **IMAP** — mesajele rămân pe server, sincronizate pe mai multe dispozitive. Ideal pentru cei care își verifică emailul de peste tot.
- **POP3** — descarcă mesajele pe un singur dispozitiv și de regulă, le șterge de pe server. Ocupă mai puțin spațiu pe server dar nu sincronizează device-urile.

## Porturi uzuale

IMAP folosește portul **993** (cu criptare SSL/TLS) sau 143 (STARTTLS).

## De reținut

Pentru că IMAP păstrează mesajele pe server, urmărește **cota de spațiu** a căsuței de email. Datele de configurare le găsești în panoul de email.
